The Repdo renewables agency of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy has prequalified 49 firms, including some of the world’s leading solar developers, to bid for 1.2GW of solar PV capacity to be developed in round three of the kingdom’s National Renewable Energy Program (NREP).

The third round was launched in January and includes four PV projects in central areas of the kingdom: 700MW Ar Rass; 300MW Saad; 120MW Wadi Al Dawaser; and 80MW Layla. All aim to replace some output from nearby liquids-burning plants (MEES, 17 January). (CONTINUED - 802 WORDS)
