Mauritania is set to become a major gas producer from 2022 after BP in late 2018 decided to approve development of the 15tcf Tortue field. Further discoveries and exploration by Exxon, Shell and Total as well as BP hold out the prospect of more to come.

US independent Kosmos, BP’s key partner at the Tortue FLNG project on the Mauritania/Senegal maritime border, reports “steady progress” in its Q2 results on 9 August having last month acknowledged a 15% cost hike and start-up delay.
