Egypt’s imports of Israeli piped gas fell 100mn cfd month on month to a nine-month low 820mn cfd for July, MEES sources indicate. This drop-off, combined with rising domestic gas demand and falling output resulted in painful ongoing power cuts, which could continue into September (MEES, 28 July).

While the 820mn cfd of imported Israeli gas is a nine-month low, it still marks a near-400mn cfd year-on-year increase and is higher than any figure before the late-October 2022 start-up of Israel’s third gas field, 1.2tcf Karish operated by Greek firm Energean (MEES, 28 October 2022).
