East Med focused Greek firm Energean announced on 26 October that first gas has been achieved from its 1.4tcf Karish field after it was granted permission to start production the previous day by Israel’s Energy Ministry. Approval was the final regulatory hurdle ahead of the field’s long-awaited start-up.
