QatarEnergy has signed another high-profile deal to supply Europe with LNG from its North Field Gas Expansion project, this time inking a deal with Shell for supplies to the Netherlands. In an 18 October announcement, the Qatari state giant says it signed two LNG sale and purchase agreements with Shell to supply up to 3.5mn t/y to the Netherlands for 27 years from 2026 through Rotterdam’s Gate terminal.

Shell holds a 6.3% stake in Qatar’s 32mn t/y North Field East (NFE) expansion project and a 9.4% stake in the smaller 16mn t/y North Field South (NFS) expansion. These stakes yield Shell a net share of 3.5mn t/y, equivalent to the volumes specified in the agreements. This mirrors the agreement announced last week for TotalEnergies to supply France’s Fos Cavaou terminal (MEES, 13 October). (CONTINUED - 778 WORDS)
