Egypt’s state electricity transmission firm EETC has signed a power purchase agreement with Saudi private energy developer Acwa Power for a 2.3GW gas-fired combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) plant to be developed at Luxor on the River Nile in southern Egypt under a build-own-operate contract with a term of 25 years.

Acwa will build the plant in partnership with local engineering contractor Hassan Allam. The project is expected to cost a total $2.3bn and is expected to deliver first electricity in the summer of 2022 and to reach full commercial operation in summer 2023. (CONTINUED - 664 WORDS)
