Egypt’s gas balance hit a new low in July as record demand collided with falling domestic production. Jodi data show gas consumption jumped 9.5% month-on-month and 16% year-on-year to 7.36bn cfd, the highest monthly figure on record (see chart 1). Gas burned for power generation surged 17% month-on-month to 4.68bn cfd, also a record and 18% more than in July 2025 (see chart 2).
