Egypt’s wind power generating capacity has reached 1.38GW, following the December 2019 connection of the 250MW Ras Gharib wind farm to the national grid. All but one of the six operating plants is on the western side of the Gulf of Suez.

The latest gains follow a 380MW boost in 2018 with the start up of phases-2 and 3 wind farms at Gebel El Zeit around 50km south of Ras Gharib (see table and chart). (CONTINUED - 834 WORDS)
