Emirates Water and Electricity Company (Ewec) announced higher solar capacity targets on 21 September. It now aims for 14GW by 2030, up from 10GW (MEES, 3 January 2025), and more than 35GW by 2035, double its previous 18GW target set in 2024.
Current solar capacity is 2.63GW, while another 9.7GW is under development or out for tender. These projects would bring Ewec’s renewable capacity to 12.33GW, leaving it around 1.7GW short of its new 2030 target. (CONTINUED - 715 WORDS)
