Portugal is considering an electricity interconnection with its southern neighbour Morocco as part of a strategic plan to address power issues following massive blackouts across the Iberian Peninsula in April (MEES, 2 May).
Portuguese environment minister Maria da Graca Carvalho on 28 July unveiled government plans to invest up to €400mn ($466mn) in measures to improve the operational and control capacity of the national power grid and increase electricity storage capacity. (CONTINUED - 293 WORDS)
