This week saw two notable sales deals struck by Middle Eastern LNG suppliers. First off the mark was Oman LNG, with a 14 August deal to supply 400,000 t/y to Germany’s SEFE for four years from 2026. This was followed on 17 August with Adnoc Gas announcing a five-year supply deal with Japex, which it says will be worth $450-550mn.

Germany is one of the world’s youngest LNG importers. Following years of prevarication, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine pushed Germany into diversifying away from Russian piped gas and it swiftly installed FSRU import facilities last year and began the construction of permanent facilities.
