Work on a key gas expansion project in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq has been paused amid an escalation of rocket attacks against the semi-autonomous region. The UAE’s Dana Gas announced on 27 June that work on the KM250 expansion project at the Khor Mor gas field “has been temporarily suspended while security enhancements are carried out.”

Dana Gas operates the field alongside Crescent Petroleum on behalf of the Pearl Petroleum consortium. Current capacity stands at around 450mn cfd and the expansion project is aimed at boosting this to 690mn cfd by 2Q 2023. The expansion is key to boosting gas supply to domestic power plants, while a second 250mn cfd phase is planned with an eye on exporting to Turkey. (CONTINUED - 991 WORDS)
