Tunisia generated a record 20.08TWh of power in 2019, up 5.2% on 2018. Fresh gas-fired capacity additions last summer brought the country’s total installed capacity to 5.7GW (see chart 1).

The startup of the first 300MW unit of the 450MW ‘Rades C’ CCGT plant and the first 312.5MW unit of the 625MW Mornaguia gas turbine plant provided a just-in-time cushion as Tunisia entered peak summer demand season (MEES, 14 June 2019).
