Egypt on 10 February finalized the award of the East Damanhour block, in the country’s onshore Nile Delta to Wintershall Dea. The award was initially made in February last year following 2018 EGAS bidding (MEES, 15 February 2019).

The German firm plans to drill eight wells and invest $43mn, according to a Petroleum Ministry statement. The block surrounds the firm’s 30mn cfd Disouq field (see map). Part of the acreage had previously been drilled by Dea before its $6.4bn merger with compatriot Wintershall last year (MEES, 3 May 2019). (CONTINUED - 135 WORDS)
