The cradle of the Arab Spring, Tunisia, has produced its second democratically elected president. Retired law professor Kais Saied won a landslide victory on 13 October, causing many Tunisians to pour onto the streets to celebrate the man they hope will set Tunisia on a road to economic prosperity.

With little money and no political party behind him, Mr Saied beat TV magnate Nabil Karoui with 72.7% of the vote according to official preliminary results. Mr Kairoui was imprisoned over allegations of corruption for almost all of the campaign period but he says he won’t challenge the result. (CONTINUED - 352 WORDS)
