Abu Dhabi’s Adwea has signed a contract with Japan’s Marubeni and China’s JinkoSolar to build the world’s largest solar photovoltaic (PV) plant: 1.18GW at Sweihan, 120km east of Abu Dhabi city, which is expected to cost $3.2bn.

The project’s world-beating size brings economies of scale that have enabled Marubeni and JinkoSolar to offer Adwea a record low levelized cost of electricity of Dh0.089/kWh (US¢2.42/kWh). (CONTINUED - 716 WORDS)
