Denmark’s Vestas is providing 40 wind turbines for installation in Morocco’s Khalladi wind farm, near Tangier. The 120MW wind farm is being developed by Saudi private firm Acwa Power in a 75:25 project joint venture with the Mauritius-registered Argan Infrastructure Fund.
Acwa says the wind farm is expected to cost a total MD1.7bn ($172.6mn). The company began construction work on the project in November 2015 and says that the farm will supply industrial clients connected to the local high voltage network.
Khalladi is the first private renewables project in Morocco to be financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). EBRD and Banque Marocaine du Commerce Exterieur (BMCE) provided €126mn ($140.9mn) in equal tranches (MEES, 13 November 2015). (CONTINUED - 280 WORDS)
