Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is studying four bids for construction of the proposed 1.2GW Hassyan coal-fired power plant. The plant was tendered to be built in two 600MW phases, due online in 2020 and 2021, but one bidder has proposed an expanded project.

DEWA had extended the bidding deadline a number of times to 30 April 2015 “to accommodate requests from developers.” The bidders are: Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power in partnership with China’s Harbin Electric; Korea’s Kepco; Malaysia’s Tenaga; and Japan’s Marubeni. (CONTINUED - 285 WORDS)
