Egypt’s LNG import system has proved resilient following last week’s drone strike on the Energos Winter floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), with LNG imports and Israeli pipeline deliveries both running at record levels. Cairo has been able to maintain full domestic gas supplies despite losing its only Mediterranean regasification option (MEES, 31 July).
The 450mn cfd-capacity FSRU remains out of service after being struck at Damietta on 29 July. Egyptian authorities say it is expected to head to Turkey for damage assessment and repairs. No timeframe has been given for its return to service. (CONTINUED - 846 WORDS)
