The Houthi maritime blockade in the southern Red Sea threatens more than Saudi Arabia’s oil exports. Ever since the Strait of Hormuz was effectively closed in early March, the kingdom has been relying on its Red Sea ports for non-oil exports and critically important imports. Ports at Jeddah, Yanbu and Rabigh have been operating around the clock to mitigate the loss of Hormuz flows.
