Oman’s gas sector is on course for a record year, with production and consumption reaching new highs. LNG exports have risen to a record as most Qatari and Emirati LNG remains trapped inside the Gulf because of the ongoing disruption to the Strait of Hormuz (MEES, 17 July). At the same time, gas demand from the power sector has increased as electricity exports through the GCC Interconnection Authority (GCCIA) have increased.

Implied gas production (excluding pipeline imports from Qatar) reached an all-time high of 6.12bn cfd in June, up more than 12% from the same period last year (see chart). The H1 average of 5.56bn cfd was up 8% year-on-year. (CONTINUED - 473 WORDS)
