Adnoc CEO Sultan al-Jaber embarked on a two-day trip to Japan this week, where he held discussions with some of the NOC’s biggest clients as the state energy giant continues its comeback from the Hormuz Crisis (MEES, 10 July). Japan is the largest market for Adnoc crude oil, and took delivery of the country’s first ever crude export shipment 64 years ago. Since that first cargo arrived, the UAE has joined and subsequently quit Opec (MEES, 1 May), but trade relations with Japan have continued to strengthen.
“When we describe Japan as the UAE’s oldest and most enduring energy partner, it is not rhetoric. It is simply a statement of fact,” Mr Jaber wrote in an op-ed published in Japan’s Nikkei on 6 July to mark his visit. (CONTINUED - 959 WORDS)
