Of all the Gulf states caught up in the Israeli-US conflict with Iran, Iraq is suffering the most. Like the GCC states, Iraq is being hit by Iranian missile and drone strikes, while the US is also targeting Iran-backed militias in the country.
Unlike during last year’s Israel-Iran conflict, the militias are active participants in the current conflict. Militia groups, primarily surrogates of Kataib Hezbollah, have not only fired drones at Kurdistan but also appear to have been involved in attacks on Kuwait and potentially Saudi Arabia.
