Iraq’s new government is on a roll, just two weeks after ratifying the long-delayed fifth licensing round (LR5) contracts (MEES, 24 February), Baghdad has finally signed the ‘Declaration of Commerciality’ for the Eridu discovery on Block 10 in Iraq’s southern Dhi Qar and Muthanna provinces (see map). Eridu is operated by Russian private-sector firm Lukoil (60%) with Japan’s Inpex as partner (40%).
