Chevron signed three interim agreements with Iraq on 13 September, that will allow the US major to support Basrah Oil Company (BOC) operations at the 480,000 b/d-capacity West Qurna-2 field while negotiations on a final contract continue. The Iraqi cabinet approved the advance payment contract, crude lifting agreement and technical consulting agreement on 8 September.

The field was previously operated by Russia’s Lukoil, but after US sanctions forced it to exit, BOC subcontracted Italy’s Bonatti and local company Hilal Al Basra to manage operations (MEES, 3 April). (CONTINUED - 253 WORDS)
