State energy giant QatarEnergy announced on 3 December that it has finished the integration of all marketing responsibilities from QatarEnergy LNG (formerly Qatargas). The energy giant had earlier announced plans to integrate all of the firm’s marketing responsibilities in February as part of the latest streamlining initiative spearheaded by Saad al-Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs and CEO of QatarEnergy (MEES, 24 February).

QatarEnergy LNG has historically been responsible for marketing the emirate’s LNG (following the Rasgas/Qatar gas merger in 2018), but QatarEnergy has in recent years begun to take on a marketing role. Since the integration was announced, QatarEnergy has been the counterparty signing long term sales agreements for volumes from the emirate’s massive 48mn t/y North Field expansion project (MEES, 6 October).
