US major Chevron (35%op), UK major Shell (35%) and Israeli firm NewMed Energy (30%) have made a last-ditch attempt to extend current negotiations with Cyprus over the field development plan (FDP) for the 3.5tcf Aphrodite field.

Nicosia has set a 5 November deadline for talks after rejecting FDP modifications submitted by Chevron and its partners in May (MEES, 29 September).
