Italian firm Eni and its 50:50 partner at Cyprus’ Block 6 TotalEnergies, have discovered a “large gas reservoir” with their recently-completed Cronos-1 well, according to local media reports. MEES sources confirm that the firms have struck gas at the Cronos prospect. What remains to be seen is the size of the find, with one news outlet reporting that the reservoir is “big but not massive.”

The Tungsten Explorer drillship, meanwhile, appears to have begun drilling a second well on the acreage, approximately 800ms southwest from Cronos-1, MEES analysis of vessel tracking data indicates. Local daily “Alitheia” citing informed sources, alludes to this in its 5 August report, claiming that “there are positive signs of the existence of a second gas column near the first reservoir.” (CONTINUED - 828 WORDS)
