Jordan has kicked off a new appraisal attempt of oil reserves on the Sirhan Development and Jafr blocks, with a well set to be drilled at the Sirhan Development block within the next few weeks. There has been little appraisal of Jordan’s frontier acreage in recent decades, and Amman is pinning its hopes on technology advances unlocking new reserves.

Jordan’s minister of energy and mineral resources Saleh al-Kharabsheh told local media on 17 May that he expects the first well at the Sirhan Development Block to be delivered “before June” as Jordan is focusing its efforts on acreage along the Saudi border. (CONTINUED - 901 WORDS)
