For all the talk of developing new energy sources (MEES, 19 November), the UAE remains focused on maximizing the potential of its legacy hydrocarbon assets. Abu Dhabi’s Adnoc aims to boost crude oil production capacity from its claimed 4mn b/d to 5mn b/d and to achieve gas self-sufficiency by 2030.

Adnoc took another step towards achieving the latter goal during this week’s Adipec conference, in awarding $1.46bn of contracts for the Dalma sour gas field development. Dalma is a key component of the Ghasha sour gas concession, where Adnoc targets more than 1.5bn cfd of gas by 2030. (CONTINUED - 704 WORDS)
