US firm General Electric this week announced that it has connected two GT13EW gas turbines to the Zubair powerplant in southern Iraq, adding 300MW to the plant’s capacity.

The plant is expected to reach completion in 2021, providing a total boost of 700MW to Iraq’s installed capacity. GE says the latest additions means it has brought 1.68GW of new capacity in Iraq online since December 2019, and conducted repairs and maintenance on 4.33GW. (CONTINUED - 361 WORDS)
