Qatar Petroleum is expanding its considerable footprint offshore Mexico, announcing an agreement on 6 May to acquire stakes in three blocks from Total. If the move gets regulatory approval from Mexico’s authorities and the other partners at the blocks, it will take the number of blocks QP is involved with in Mexico to nine.

Saad Sherida al-Kaabi, Qatar’s Minister of State for Energy Affairs and QP CEO says “we are pleased to sign these agreements, which further expand Qatar Petroleum’s footprint in Mexico, and demonstrate our commitment to achieving our international growth strategy, with Latin America as a core area in our international portfolio.
