Morocco’s renewables agency Masen has invited expressions of interest from developers by 28 February for 400MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity across nine locations. The plants will comprise the first phase of 800MW Noor PV2.

Morocco leads Mena in renewables, with solar capacity of 711MW at end-2018 and wind capacity at 1.22GW. Recent Masen awards included the world’s first hybrid solar plant, combining PV with concentrated solar power (CSP) in an 800MW project offering a minimum five hours of overnight electricity supply (MEES, 31 May 2019).
