A fire at Kuwait’s 270,000 b/d Mina Abdullah refinery has hit its kerosene unit. The extent of the damage caused by the 2 April fire is unclear, although Kuwait state downstream firm KNPC says the “remainder of the refinery units were not affected by this incident and are continuing to operate in full capacity.”

Whether the kerosene unit (potentially a 40,000 b/d kerosene hydrotreater) is currently operational remains unclear. Kuwait produced 144,000 b/d of kerosene in January according to the latest Jodi data, and exported 125,000 b/d, with domestic demand just 10,000 b/d. So at least the emirate will not have to be resorting to imports should repair work necessitate the unit being offline for any length of time. (CONTINUED - 119 WORDS)
