Abu Dhabi’s state renewables firm Masdar signed a joint development agreement with the Armenian National Interests Fund (Anif) on 30 November for 400MW of solar photovoltaic capacity in Armenia at an expected cost of $300-320mn.
For 2018 Armenia generated 43% of its electricity from its 2.43GW of installed gas capacity and a further 30% from its 1.33GW of hydropower capacity. Landlocked Armenia is reliant on gas rich neighbors Russia (via Georgia) and Iran for supplies: for 2018 around 80% came from Russia and 20% from Iran (MEES, 6 December). (CONTINUED - 107 WORDS)
