Abu Dhabi state integrated petroleum firm Adnoc has reached full production of polymer grade propylene from a propane dehydrogenation (PDH) plant installed alongside its carbon black and delayed coker (CBDC) project at the Ruwais West refinery.

The first unit of CBDC, a delayed coker, was started up earlier this month to deliver up to 430,000 t/y of anode grade calcined coke for use in aluminium production. A second unit, producing up to 40,600 t/y of carbon black is due online shortly. The CBDC plant is key to Adnoc’s aim to “extract the maximum value from ‘bottom-of-the-barrel’ heavy oils” (MEES, 7 September). (CONTINUED - 524 WORDS)
