Saudi Aramco and US giant General Electric plan to install Saudi Arabia’s first wind turbine at Aramco’s Turaif products storage and distribution plant in the northwest of the kingdom. The single 2.75MW turbine will be operational in 2016.

Saudi Arabia has major renewables plans. Riyadh’s Saudi Vision 2030 program, devised by Deputy Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman to transform the Saudi economy, has set a target of achieving 9.5GW of renewables capacity by 2030.
