State firm Saudi Aramco has signed three contracts for construction of the Fadhili gas processing plant, as well as a contract to build a gas compressor station to expand throughput capacity of the kingdom’s main gas supply system.

Aramco awarded Fadhili EPC contracts in three packages: Spain’s Tecnicas will build both the inlet and gas treatment facilities and the process utilities, while Britain’s Petrofac will build the sulfur recovery units. The Fadhili plant will be “a key component of the kingdom’s Master Gas System (MGS), which will meet growing domestic demand for energy by expanding from its current 9.3bn cfd of sales gas in 2015 to 12.2bn cfd by 2021,” says Aramco.
