Egypt’s National Renewable Energy Association (NREA) is still finalizing the details on a tender for 250MW of wind power capacity in the Gulf of Suez area, first opened to bidders in 2010. The agency says the wind farm will be developed as a build, own and operate project, with first electricity due in 2016.

The bid deadline has been put back several times already, most recently to mid-March, although the tender was opened in early 2013. 34 companies and consortia prequalified, with 10 being selected to bid.
