The flow of crude through Yemen’s main oil export pipeline has once again been interrupted, following an attack by as-yet-unidentified militants on the line late last week. The attack represents the eighth such incident involving the key 110,000 b/d capacity pipeline since the start of the year, the most recent of which came on 8 April. This comes as Yemen enters the second month of its ‘National Dialogue’ – a multi communal conference tasked with unifying the country.
“Oil flow came to a near complete halt,” one official told France’s AFP without specifying the severity of the damage. The attack was carried out in the Wadi ‘Abida area of Yemen’s oil-rich Marib province, which until recently accounted for around one third of the country’s total output. (CONTINUED - 529 WORDS)
