AGOCO, the Benghazi based affiliate of Libya’s National Oil Company (NOC), continues to be by far the most active company in post-revolution Libyan exploration. On 2 September it announced successful drilling results from its NC-4 block in the Ghadames basin 180km southwest of Tripoli. This drilling success, whilst modest, further indicates the commercial potential of the block which contains the currently unexploited Tlascin field.

The latest drilling tested three formations. The Lower and Middle Acacus layers both tested at around 1,250 b/d of 37-39°API crude as well as small quantities of gas, whilst the deeper Memouniat layer tested at 7mn cfd of wet gas. All were drilled via a 1/2 inch choke. (CONTINUED - 1005 WORDS)
