TotalEnergies has completed the installation of solar panels for the first phase of its 1GW solar plant in Basra. The project is part of the French major’s GGIP project (Gas Growth Integrated Project: Total 45%op, Basrah Oil 30%, QatarEnergy 25%) and is to be delivered in four 250MW phases.
The first phase is on course to be commissioned this quarter, in line with statements from Iraq’s oil ministry in December. The ministry also said then that GGIP’s 50mn cfd ‘ArtawiGas25’ facility will also be commissioned this quarter. The project is aimed at ending flaring at the 60,000 b/d Ratawi oilfield. Previously, the target for delivering the gas unit was end-2025, in line with plans to raise Ratawi’s output to 100,000 b/d (MEES, 1 August). The delay indicates that the output target has also been moved to early-2026. (CONTINUED - 206 WORDS)
