TotalEnergies aims to double output at Iraq’s Ratawi from 60,000 b/d currently to 120,000 b/d by the end of the year, an industry source tells MEES. The French major has been operating the field since August 2023, and the source says that contracts have been awarded for the expansion. Total aims to eventually bring capacity at Ratawi to 210,000 b/d. Currently, all Ratawi’s associated gas output is flared. Data from The World Bank’s latest Global Gas Flaring Tracker annual report shows flared volumes unchanged at 0.3bcm (30mn cfd) in 2024 (MEES, 1 August). Total aims to fully capture gas through its 50mn cfd ‘ArtawiGas25’ processing facility, which is also targeted for completion by the end of this year.
