Yesar Al-Maleki

Yesar Al-Maleki is Gulf Analyst at MEES. He is an energy economist with a wide interest in the intertwining subjects of energy, geopolitics, and economics in the region. Formerly, he was the Managing Director of Iraq Energy Institute in Baghdad, where he led research programs on Iraq’s and Iraqi Kurdistan's oil, natural gas and power sectors in addition to water and climate challenges, economy, and politics. He has worked for the International Energy Agency (IEA) and various international oil companies. He is specialized in studying rentierism in the Gulf area and prospects for economic diversification. He holds a master’s degree in Energy Economics and Management from IFP School and is a PhD candidate at the University of Exeter.
