The UAE’s directive banning “maritime interactions” with Port Sudan has resulted in the flow of crude oil from Sudan to Fujairah grinding to a halt.

The directive was issued last month, while the ‘Sand’ tanker was en route from Port Sudan’s Bashayer oil terminal to Fujairah, with the tanker an unwitting test case for how strictly the ruling would be enforced (MEES, 22 August). The tanker, carrying 600,000 barrels of Dar crude oi, diverted to the nearby port of Sohar in Oman on 29 August, where it remained until 11 September. (CONTINUED - 221 WORDS)
