P CEO Murray Auchincloss recently led a high-ranking delegation to the firm’s newest LNG export facility; the Great Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) which straddles the Mauritania/Senegal maritime boundary. The first cargo from the 2.3mn t/y Phase 1 project was shipped by BP on 15 April, reaching China’s Dapeng port on 22 May, according to Kpler.
BP operates GTA with a 56% working interest, alongside Kosmos Energy (27%), Senegal state firm Petrosen (10%) and Mauritania’s SMH (7%). Initial ambitions of a three-hub development to 30mn t/y by the early 2030s have been slashed, with BP offloading the Yakaar-Teranga fields off Senegal and the Mauritania-only ‘Greater BirAllah’ fields, leaving it with just Tortue.
