Shipments of Libyan gas to Italy via the Greenstream pipeline fell to zero from 1 May with the shutdown of the Mellitah processing plant. The Mellitah plant west of Tripoli handles the 80% or so of the country’s gas output which is produced by the Eni-led Mellitah Oil & Gas JV with Libya’s NOC.

NOC announced on 30 April that the Mellitah plant as well as the key gas-condensate fields which supply it, offshore Bahr Es Salam and onshore Wafa, would be shuttered for “approximately three weeks” from 1 May to enable the “comprehensive renovation” of both processing and at-field infrastructure.
