Amid speculation that Algeria will be unable to meaningfully boost gas exports to Italy this year, the country’s energy ministry said on 21 September that it intends to increase total deliveries by around 13% to 25.2bcm for 2022 (see chart).

Algeria says it will boost gas exports to Italy by 13% to 25bcm this year amid Rome’s ongoing struggle to replace lost Russian flows. The additional Italy exports have essentially been enabled by cutting flows to Spain.
