With a new government set to take office by the New Year, Israel’s outgoing energy minister Karine Elharrar launched an offshore bid round on 13 December as one of her last acts in office. Four multi-block ‘Zones’ (‘E’, ‘G’, ‘H’ and ‘I’) totaling 5,888km² are on offer, with a particular focus on deepwater areas bordering Lebanon, Cyprus and Egypt (see map).
