Gulf Keystone announced this week that it has restarted production at its Shaikan oil field in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The field was shut-in as a precaution on 16 July following drone attacks on neighboring oilfields. Prior to the closure it was producing around 41,000 b/d. The firm announced on 13 August that production had “recently restarted at the Shaikan Field following a security assessment and consultation with the Kurdistan Regional Government.” It did not state when production resumed or at what level, and says that further information will be provided on 28 August when it announces its H1 results.
